- First thing: Ditch The Baggage. Pay off your student loans and credit card debt (line of credit too).
- Then: Build an Emergency Fund for short term emergencies (job loss, car breaks down..)
- Then: Hit The Books and learn all you can about saving and investing (get The Wealthy Barber and read it).
- Then: Invest for The Long Term. Once your debt is done and an emergency fund is in place... time to grow your savings.
