I know many of you have heard of the horrible tragic news that happened this Tuesday, January 31st, just two hours away in the little community of Mackenzie BC. I also know some of you are from the town itself, as am I. I am asking, not for myself but for the mourning family Lana, Rick and 3year old Katelynn. They lost not only their home and everything in it, they also lost their twin 22 month old toddlers Gabrielle and Joseph, in a horrible tragic house fire. I know we may not be able to ease their pain but we can help with the financial burdens they are facing.
Please, help my friends in their time of need. They have nothing, they were renting with no insurance. They are in need of any household items, clothing, and any items for their 3 year old daughter. Katelynn (3 yr old) daughter is a 4/5. Lana is a small/medium top and a 5/29 pant and Rick is an XL shirt and a 36 pant. Those who have items they wish to donate but live outside of Mackenzie, the items can be mailed to PO Box 11, Mackenzie BC V0J 2C0. Put C/O Baxter / Fleury fund or, you can drop them off to me as I will be going up next weekend (Feb 11th).
You can donate to ANY Scotia Bank to the Baxter/ Fleury Family.. the main Branch being in Mackenzie BC, account number 007600210781. If you don't have time to go to the bank, all you need is a VISA / MASTERCARD to use the PayPal link below, very simple, safe and quick to do (only takes a minute). Please, EVERY cent counts!! Lets pull together!!
--Please pass this on to your friends and family, not for me, but for Lana, Rick, Katelynn... and their sweet Angels Gabbi & Joey ♥ RIP ♥

Burns Lake Rotary Club – Lakes District Tragedy Relief Fund
The Burns Lake Rotary Club is accepting donations for the Lakes District Tragedy Relief Fund. The Rotary Club will also be organizing a benefit on Saturday, February 4th with proceeds to assist the Lakes District Tragedy Relief Fund over the coming weeks and months as our community deals with the challenges brought on by the devastating fire and explosion at Babine Forest Products in Burns Lake.
The Lakes District Tragedy Fund was established 12 years ago and assists community members in times of need. Some examples of past assistance: medical transportation costs, groceries, rebuilding… The fund is overseen by a committee of community members who assist with screening the applicants who ensure their needs are adequately addressed.

Shots from the paper airplane toss with Crimestoppers and 101.3 The River at the UNBC Basketball game on Saturday January 14th. The winner: Tony Sweet wins a Kindle E Reader.
Tim Tebow has been on an incredible run this season for the Broncos, some would say he's getting a lot of help from the big guy! Check this out!
The most searched item this week on Google has been 3:16 …. Denver quarterback Tim Tebow used to play with 3:16 written in the black grease under his eyes…. It’s a reference to a Bible passage …John 3:16….and this past weekend…. Tebow threw for 316 years and he averaged 31.6 yards a pass…. For those wondering the passage in the Bible reads…. “For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life” ….or to paraphrase for Denver fans…. “whoever believes in Tim shall not perish from the playoffs but will go all the way”
I just wanted to say "Buon Natale"- Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our family here at The River and my family at home! Thanks for a great year and making us the most listened to radio station in Prince George! Only the best in 2012!
Twas the Morn before Christmas Twas the morn before Christmas, when all through my home The river was playing, while I searched for my comb. The play list was great, obviously chosen with care, It‘s amazing how music can travel through air.
My children were annoyed as they sat in their seats, While mommy checked her cell for the most recent tweets. I turned up the volume to hear the news, Oh no! The microwave and hair dryer blew the fuse.
I ran to the basement with such a hurry, I can‘t miss the weather, in case there’s a flurry. I snap on the fuse and the stereos ignite, Just in time to hear the forecast looks bright.
The kids are tired of Ashley and Mike, They want Diego or Dora or anything like. But my morning needs the wake up fix, If a contest is running, I could win some tix.
Its seems to me there’s a leader of many, I knew in a moment it must be Mike Benny. More rapid than PG Transit his DJ’s they came, And he tweeted, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Hinton! now, Polillo! Now Rick last named Kelly! Or, Chiu! Or, Seacrest! Or Dr OZ from the Telly! To the top of the Hart! to way past the mall! Now play away! Talk away! Blog away all!"
And then, from the radio, I heard a good spoof The chin guy, Jay Leno, he sure is a goof. Uh oh, now its time to guess famous peoples ages, Good thing wrong guess‘ don’t affect Ashley’s wages.
Now comes on Ron, he does ten to two, His last name doesn’t rhyme, so what do you do?. I know he has kids and a voice soft like little cheeses, And his haircut is the same as the wee baby Jesus.
He once answered my call and I was lucky 11! My answer was wrong and said the opposite of Heaven! He just chuckled and said thanks for the call, After an hour of redial I just wanted to bawl.
Then there’s my favourite Mr Rick Kelly, Rides his bike to work so he doesn’t get a belly. He likes facebook, long walks, and new Music Mondays, and Unicorns, and sprinkles on chocolate fudge sundae’s!
At dinner time my wife says turn off the station, But I want to hear where Santa is all over the nation! “Sigh“ happy wife, happy life, and all things nice, I turn off the radio with her stern advice.
As the kids sleep, dreaming of presents, Santa, and honey, My dreams are filled with the Rivers Sound of Money. T‘is my year to have the right guess, Hopefully when time comes the right number I press!
A big thanks to all at 101.3 The River , You make me laugh so hard, I hurt in the liver. So on Christmas Eve when the end is in sight, Yell “Merry Christmas and to all a good night!"
I got a nice email from a former resident of Prince George today. Her name is Tara Lett. She graduated from Duchess Park and did many musicals and performances with Judy Russell growing up. For the past few years, Tara based in Vancouver, is trying to make it in the tough music business. She has a good look and good sound! We just added her new Christmas track, " Be my Santa baby". Hear it soon on The River and if you want more info on Tara, check her out on Youtube, Facebook and Twitter. Her website is www.taralett.com. The River will be supporting Tara on her journey to become a music star maybe you can too!
