  • Cougars Overagers Battle (VIDEO)
    The battle for the three overage positions on the Prince George is over, for now at least.


  • The Cougars Sign More Prospects
    The Prince George Cougars signed three of their prospects yesterday . The trio includes 16-year old goalies Tyler Santos and Devon Fordyce along with 15-year old defenceman Joseph Carvalho. Santos was acquired by the Cougars in January as part of the trade with Saskatoon for forward Marek Viedensky. Fordyce was a sixth round pick of the Cougars in 09, while Carvalho is a fourth round pick of the Cougars from this summer's draft. The Cats host a pair of exhibtion games against Edmonton this Friday and Saturday .Both games are 7 p.m. starts.

  • Spruce Kings Win Their Exhibition Matchup
    The Prince George Spruce Kings downed the NAHL's Dawson Creek Rage 4-2 in exhibition action at the Coliseum last night . Chris Bodo had a hat trick and the game winner , Luke Hannas had the other tally ,and Nic Desousa had three helpers on the line with Bodo . The Spruce Kings open the regular season at home this Saturday night at 7 against their BCHL arch rivals , the Quesnel Millionaires .

  • Pro Contract For Brian Matte (VIDEO)
    Former PG Cougar Brian Matte is trying to move up another notch in pro hockey.  He'll tryout for the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL. The 22 year old is guaranteed to play with Texas of the Central Hockey League and they'll put him through firefighting school.  He says its a better fit than joining an ECHL team.

    Horseshoes was the name of the game for many this past weekend in Prince George and as Al Bristowe reports, horseshoes is more about skill than luck.


  • Ryder Cup Captain's Picks (VIDEO)
    The US Ryder Cup team has been picked and there was only one surprise for Corey Pavin.  Tiger Woods, who retained his #1 world ranking this past weekend is in, but 21-year-old rookie Rickie Fowler raised a few eyebrows.  The Ryder Cup is next month in Wales.


  • Women's Coaching At UNBC (VIDEO)
    The UNBC basketball teams are getting set to open their seasons. The men's team will have a tryout Wednesday night. The women's team will have a bit of a different look in the early part of their season.


  • The Spruce Kings Beef Up Defence
    The Prince George Spruce Kings have added some experience on their blueline, acquiring third year defenceman Derik Henderson from Surrey for futures. He won't be here in time for tonights exhbition game but this one should be a good game.The Spruce Kings host the NAHL Dawson Creek Rage tonight at 7 in exhibition play at the Coliseum. The two clubs skated to a 6 all draw Saturday in the Dawson Creek tournament.

  • Cats And Blades Deal
    The Prince George Cougars have acquired 18-year old forward Charles Inglis from the Saskatoon Blades, in exchange for the Cougars second round pick in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. Inglis played 137 regular season games for the Blades, collecting 30 goalsand 26 assists for 56 points. Inglis has also compiled 158 penalty minutes.The six foot , 183 pound product of Winnipeg, MB, was selected fourth overall bythe Blades in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft and will be attending Phoenix Coyotes training camp later this week. Inglis was a member of Team West atthe 2009 World Under-17 challenge in Port Alberni, BC. Cougars GM Dallas Thompason says "Charles Inglis is a talented player and they're looking forward to having him in their line-up.

  • Cougars Get a Win and Loss to Open Pre-season
    The Cougars are back home after a win and a shootout loss at a pre-season tournament in Edmonton. Yesterday the Cats fell 4-3 in a shootout to Swift Current. Greg Fraser had a pair of goals. Mattia Bortolotto had the other PG marker. Saturday the Cougars got by Medicine Hat 3-1. Up next will be a pair of games against Edmonton Friday and Saturday at CN Centre as the exhibition season continues.
