Billboard has named it’s 2017 Woman of the Year —-> it’s Selena Gomez!
“Not only is Selena soaring on the charts, but she continuously inspires young women everywhere to be authentic, give back and to not be afraid to use their voice,” – President of The Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group.
Here’s the list of previous winners: Reba McEntire (2007), Ciara (2008), Beyoncé (2009), Fergie(2010),Taylor Swift (2011), Katy Perry(2012), Pink (2013), Taylor Swift again (2014), Lady Gaga (2015) and Madonna(2016).
Over the weekend we learned that her relationship with The Weeknd had ended (after ten months together). The two had been sharing an apartment in NYC since September (but not really “livin’ together”).
Last week Selena released a new single, “Wolves”.
The song was recorded along with DJ Marshmello and was written by Selena. FYI: She has writing credits on her last 15 singles (and on Charlie Puth’s “We Don’t Talk Anymore”).
The song currently sits at #7 on the Billboard EDM chart.
Wolves is Selena’s 29th widely released single since her first album “Stars Dance” in 2013. It’s Marshmello’s 7th single since his first studio album “Joytime” in 2016.
