If you find yourself listening to the new Foo Fighters album wondering who is singing those “La la la’s”… [Rolling Stone – the source]
Dave Grohl was hanging with Justin Timberlake (Justin just dropped by the studio): “We’d drink whiskey in the parking lot” — “He was really, really cool. Then the night before his last day, he says, ‘Can I sing on your record? I don’t want to push it, but — I just want to be able to tell my friends.’ ”
So David Grohl said yes and so Justin added a few “La, la, la’s” on one of the tracks. “He nailed it” — “I’m telling you, the guy’s going somewhere”.
Paul McCartney also appears on the album (playing the drums on one of the songs).
The new Foo Fighters album comes out September 15th.
The Foo’s also hit the road with their Concrete and Gold Tour starting October 14th.
Liam Payne just became the third member of One Direction to make it to the top ten of The Billboard charts thanx to his new song “Strip That Down”.
He was preceded by Zayn Malik who hit #1 with “Pillowtalk” and Harry Styles whose “Sign of the Times” peaked at #4.
So, Niall’s “Slow Hands” and Louis’ “Back to You” have yet to hit top ten.
So how do other groups stack up when it comes to groups with at least three members having solo top ten hits…
New Edition (3 members with top 10 hits)
The Beatles (4 members with top 10 hits)
Fleetwood Mac (4 members with top 10 hits)
(Note that this research doesn’t include “supergroups,” like Traveling Wilburys, or one-time all-star acts, such as USA for Africa.)
Shawn Mendes has just released a live performance video of “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back”.
fyi: This weekend Shawn is headlining the season premiere of MTV’s reboot of “Unplugged” – the series.
